Share Your 3D Art and Win!

Do you have Photoshop CS5 Extended? Have you experimented with 3D at all? If so, I would love to see what you have done. With 3D being so new to Photoshop that there are still many that are reluctant to venture into the 3D realm. However, I know there has to be those curious few like me who have really been pushing 3D to the limit. So here’s what you do. Post a comment here with a link to an image you did using the Photoshop 3D features. Doesn’t have to be all 3D but you have to employ 3D in some way in your design. Of the submissions I will select one and you will receive a free copy of the 3D in Photoshop Book. The first ever book on 3D in Photoshop! So don’t be shy, show us what you got! Will announce the winner this Monday, October 4, 2010!

Hi Corey, I’m a big fan.

I have been experimenting a lot with 3D in Photoshop.
For the past few days I have been trying to undestand a bit more about the PIxel Bender, so I created this art work using Pixel Bender and 3D, I will post soon a tutorial;)

Keep up the good work and great tutorials.

    PS:Congrats!! Mr.Photoshop Guy

Enjoying your 3D stuff on Layers and Photoshop User podcasts Corey. Especially the cast on broken glass on last season’s Photoshop Guys. Would be great to see more like that!

    Cheers and here’s my image.

So, with a wave of super hero films in production such as Marvel’s Thor, The Avengers and The First Avenger: Captain America. I’ve been inspired to design a logotype concept for The Captain America movie.

    Here’s what I did:
    1. Created a simple Repoussé text layer, textured it with Adobe’s 3D material downloads.
    2. Used the pen tool to create a path for a goblet, and lathed it. Again used a downloaded material.
    3. Created a very simple render clouds layer, and turned in into a new mesh from grayscale on a plane. I simply rotated it around to position it. Then used a paintbrush on the diffused layer to color it.
    4. I turned a photo my husband took of a sunset in the Colorado mountains into a 3d postcard from layer.
    5. Composited the layers together into a smart object to position it. Played with some layer styles.
Then I used a very cheesy render clouds backdrop. Fun stuff!
