How to Get Rid of That Shape Layer Outline in Photoshop
If you’ve worked with a shape layer, you’ve probably noticed the appearance of a thin outline around the shape. The outline you see around a shape layer really doesn’t mean anything. It won’t print or show up on a saved Web image; however, it does look flat-out distracting when you’re trying to work with your images. Just click the mask next to the shape layer it’s on, and that outline will disappear. Click on it again if you ever want to turn it back on.
To hide target path:
View > Show > Target Path
or simply
Shift + Ctrl + H
Best.
Thanks so much man. I’m a PS vet and have always hated using shape layers specifically for having to see that God-forsaken outline… This has changed my design life for the better! lol 🙂

…or press the numpad enter
@lgor Skuhar: is there any way that i can see the outline when pen or shape tools are selected and the outline is hidden when other tools are selected or when you click the layer.
this is getting annoying you have to press ctrlH multiple times to get something rite. also if you have some guidelines and other things which you don’t want to disappear.
i guess there are no other ways to do this.
Man, that really was driving me crazy: thanks so much for that pointer.
