Great tutorial! On your next one can you show us how you made the logo for the new design? Also, love the new website layout!

I have been visiting your website for a little over a year. Always great stuff, love your tuts. It is always the small tips like the hold control to drag without snapping. You show me things that I never knew I wanted or thought was possible, in not only PS but AI as well. So thanks a lot, you have no idea how helpful you have been!

I cannot convert to shape. It dosen’t have the option. Even when i control right click. But i am using a non upgraded photoshop.

For those of you who receive the “faux bold error”. This is because you have enabled faux bold (a setting that fakes a bold style). You can switch it off in the character palette.

On a related note, it would be awesome if you could show a quick and easy way to extrude text. The way I know are cumbersome and not very fancy, so I am usually forced to make it in actual 3D-programs instead. Thanks for a very useful tutorial, though.

After I duplicate the text layer/flip it and add the layer mask as you have done, when I try to use the gradient tool over the text nothing happens. Help?

How come hardly any of these work for me? I’m using exact same program.. I get up to the bit where he does the gradient of the reflection.. It doesn’t work, just stays a solid color even though I do the exact same thing he does. So instead I just change the opacity of the reflection, then I right click on the top word and no option comes up saying ‘distort’? It just has two of my layer names, and then an option ‘Select similar layers’ – I go into distort under the ‘filter’ heading and it just has options like glass, glow, grain etc… Can anyone help?

I love the effect!! Can Illustrator do anything like this?
How do I then use this as part of an Illustrator doc. If I wanted this effect in a postcard or logo, how do I get it there, since it is already vector..is this a rational question? any tips are greatly appreciated -Kevin

Is there a way to purchase this tutorial and others you’ve done on CD or DVD? I always hate when I find great videos and then try to go back and review later to discover they’ve been removed or the site is gone. This is by far one of the best I’ve seen! Thanks so much!

Everything in this works well for me except selecting the vector text and doing a transform on it. When I try to select the text, it selects the individual letters. Working in CS3.
